Psychotherapy outcomes for most Axis I and II disorders will be improved with these skills. The AMST skills can be utilized in any psychotherapy orientation. The skills appear to promote hemispheric integration as reflected in an improvement in assembling emotions, thoughts, sensations, memories, and inner representations of self and others. Teaching the skills establishes a more effective and positively functioning therapeutic alliance that in itself promotes a healing of deficiencies in the client’s attachment. The AMST protocol supported by extensive clinical impressions and by limited but highly promising empirical evidence.
